Cambodia-Thailand reach agreement on ceasefire

Phnom Penh (28 July 2025): Cambodia and Thailand reached agreement in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Monday afternoon to stop bloody fighting straight mid-night on 28 July 2025 (Cambodia-Thailand time) after 5-day deadly fighting along the border and inside the Cambodian territory.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet wrote on his social media that he and Thai Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai “both Cambodian and Thai sides agreed” on 3 conditions.

Hun Manet also express to Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for initiating and facilitating the meeting and US President Donald Trump for the US co-host of the meeting while the Chinese government was also continuing support and encouragement of both sides in seeking a ceasefire and for actively participating in and supporting this special meeting.

The Cambodian Ministry of National Defence spokeswoman told a press conference on Monday that Thailand has used suicide drones, cluster bombs and toxic smoke on Cambodian territory without fear of international law.

Based on a report from the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, she said, in the five days since July 24, about 400,000 Cambodian workers have returned from Thailand, and this number will increase if the two sides continue to fight.

The invasion of the Thai invaders has caused more than 130,000 innocent Cambodian people to flee, more than 600 schools have been closed, many infrastructures have been damaged, villages and property of innocent citizens have been affected, and the world heritage of humanity has been affected, especially the Preah Vihear temple, she added.
