Cambodia’s Military General Dies of Thai Military’s Toxic Fumes

Phnom Penh (22 November 2025): Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet has shared his condolences with the family of Brigadier General Srey Thoen who passed away of being exposed to toxic fumes from Thai military during the bloody fighting occurred on July 24-28 at Ta Moan Thom Temple, next to the Thai border.
Late General Srey Thoen, 52, who was exposed to toxic fumes from Thai army during the fighting and rescued but unfortunately died Friday.
More than Cambodian 40 soldiers were killed and several others wounded during the 5-day fighting when the Thai army invaded Cambodian territory and used F-16, cluster bombs, suicide drones, artilleries and toxic smoke on the Cambodian side without fear of international law.
Though both sides reached a ceasefire agreement in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Thai military never followed until they had a Joint Declaration for Peace in Kuala Lumpur again on 26 October with the eyewitness of US President Donald Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
However, Thai military have been continuing to violate the agreement often provoke problem with Cambodia. On 12 November, Thai military shot and killed one Cambodian villager dead and three others wounded and last Sunday, seven Thai black-uniformed soldiers also raped an 18-year-old Cambodian female migrant worker who is now seeking justice.
