Cambodia opens new skyway to hail ASEAN gathering
Phnom Penh (6 Jan, 2012): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Friday inaugurated a new skyway and the largest one in the capital to welcome the upcoming ASEAN meeting this year and to easy the city’s busy traffic.
The construction of the fork stretching out on two main boulevards from the city center to the international airport was ended in late December after 12-month work with more than US$8.7 millions.
The skyway is named “7 January sky bridge” also marked the 33rd anniversary of the 7th Jan victory day in 1979 when Cambodia was liberated from the Khmer Rouge killing field.
