MoI provides capacity building on ‘Communication for Social Accountability’ to state and non-state officials

The Project Coordination Office (PCO) of the Ministry of Inferior (MoI) on Thursday conducted a training workshop on ‘Communication for Social Accountability’ at MoI’s Governance, Resource & Learning Center to aim at enhancing and refining the communication capacities of the participating state and non-state actors in Cambodia so that they could effectively promote demands for the country’s social accountability and good governance.

Speaking in his opening remarks, H.E, Ngy Chanphal, MoI Secretary of State and Coordinator of the Demand for Good Governance Project (DFGG), said the training workshop is really crucial to highly raise effective communication at the local level to improve social accountability for the public interests

Although the workshop is too short, the participants can understand the importance of communication that must “take ethics, responsibility with reality and strengthen good governance”, H.E Chanphal added.

Also speaking at the opening training workshop, DFGG Project Manager Buth Chik said the participants can fill in what they are lacking in their communication work and able to strengthen mechanism for improvement of social accountability.

The training focuses on several topics like Reflections on Social Accountability, Theoretical Framework of Communication & Accountability, Collective Identification of Communication Gaps, Bridging Communication Gaps, What need to do and What don’t’ need to do in communication, particularly in the Cambodian Context

The training workshop is part of the learning programmes of the DFGG project implemented by both the royal government of Cambodia and the World Bank.  (PCO)
