Free Korean Language School for Foreign Working Visa People in Korea

Pocheon City, South Korea (27 April 2024): With spiritual and financial supports from Korean communities and charitable people, Miracle OK Language School started to provide Korean learning courses to foreigners who have working VISA in Korea.

From its start in 2022, the school has three branches where some 200 workers from nearly 20 nations – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Congo, Holand, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Russia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan – have attended their written and spoken learning.

According to a school official there, since the students need to work at weekdays, the classes open for them every Saturday and Sunday.

Oh Taeseok, General Manager of Miracle Operation Korean Language School, Inc., told journalists.

Speaking to a group of foreign journalists from different nations led by Asian Journalist Association (AJA) on Saturday at one of the three schools in Pocheon city of Gyung-gi province, Oh Taeseok, General Manager of Miracle Operation Korean Language School, Inc., said that the schools have been supported by 150 charitable people from around South Korea while teachers are volunteering.

“When we started for the first time, some local journalists reported about our work and then Korean charitable people in communities participated,” Oh said.

Mr Oh affirmed that Miracle OK Language School provides teaching to only foreigners who have working VISA in Korea for 6 months, but not illegal immigrant.

Ms. Yooky Ung, one of the voluntary teachers, said that she is really happy to teach foreigners who need help for learning Korean language and among her students, there are about 20 Cambodians”. They are smart and easy to remember, she added.

AJA that led the foreign journalists to the school in Pocheon city is an international organisation dedicates to the fulfilment of truthful and impartial reporting, the realization of press freedom and the advancement of journalism in close cooperation with journalists of Asia.
