Malaysian PM Proposes for Ending Tensions

Phnom Penh (21 December 2025): In a message on Sunday, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has proposed for getting back to end tensions and preserve peace and stability in the region.

On his Facebook page, Anwar wrote that he had connected with Cambodian and Thai Prime Ministers to exchange views and discuss on the best course towards easing the tensions that arise between the two countries.

“I reiterate the importance for Cambodia and Thailand to adhere to the spirit of dialogue, wisdom and mutual respect in order to end tensions and preserve peace and stability in the region.” Anwar wrote adding that the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting to be held on Monday is an appropriate and constructive platform to enable both countries to negotiate openly, resolve differences peacefully, and achieve a fair and lasting solution.

The Cambodian Ministry of National Defence on Sunday also confirmed that the Thai soldiers continued to use F-16 fighter aircraft to drop bombs and toxic gas on Cambodian deeper territory, killed 19 civilians and 79 others injured since the fighting started on 7 December. Chhay Sophal
