ASEAN top military officials meet in Cambodia

Siem Reap: Defense ministers of the the 10-nation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Friday started talk in Cambodia’s Siem Reap Angkor about their cooperation in order to keep peace and stability in the region.

Speaking in his opening remarks at the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) Retreat, Tea Banh, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, said the region needs to strengthen cooperation and partnership to cope with several issues like security, environment issues, water security, food security and energy issues.

“No single nation can solve all the security issues alone… and we need cooperation and partnership to overcome common security challenges to create the potentials for the establishment of a strong ASEAN Political-Security Community by 2015,” he said.
