Cambodia hosts double ASEAN Meetings

Cambodia holds two regional meetings of the 10 courtiers of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) early this year.

The first two-day meeting is for the ASEAN inter-governmental commission on human rights holding in Siem Reap province, northwestern country, on 8-9 Jan before ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ meeting to be kicked off on 11-12 Jan, 2011.

The commission on human rights is expected to declare its joint-statement on human rights today while Cambodian civil society is also planning to hold a meeting on the issue and will submit to the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ meeting.

The 10 member states of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) consist Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam. CN staff
