Thai military shot two Cambodians dead

Two Cambodian men have been gunned by a group of Thai army while they were crossing from the Thai border into the Cambodian soil, Cambodian Military Official said.

Sok Veth, 23-year-old first service of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Yuon Neth, 48 villager and former soldier, were shot dead on Friday in the Thai soil, part of Surin province, about 5 kilometers away from the Cambodian border.

According to Chi Sophal, Deputy Chief of the Cambodian-Thai Border Communication Team based at O’Smach International Border Crossing Point in Odar Meanchey province, while on their patrolling a group of Thai soldiers saw the Cambodians crossing the border and started opening fired.

He said the men were shot in the chests and the Thai police reported to their Cambodian counterpart that the two wore Cambodian military uniforms with AK47 rifles crossing the areas where illegal rosewood logging are often reported.

According to a report of the Cambodian-Thai Rations Bureau, 26 Cambodian have shot dead by Thai soldier in the forest six month of 2012, double increased if compared with the same period of last year.
