ASEAN Foreign Ministers to Meet in Malaysia for Talk about Cambodian-Thai Military Situation

Phnom Penh (21 December 2025): Foreign Ministers of 11-country Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Monday for a special talk about the current matter of Cambodian-Thai border conflicts.

The discussion chaired by Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan is providing a platform for the ASEAN Foreign Ministers to exchange views on the current situation between Cambodia and Thailand, according to a press release of ASEAN on Sunday

“As ASEAN Chair, Malaysia remains firmly committed to promoting constructive dialogues in the ASEAN spirit, and in that respect, to facilitating both sides to continue upholding the principles of international law, good neighbourly relations and peaceful co-existence, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the pursuit of a peaceful, just and lasting settlement to any dispute,” the press release read.

The Cambodian Ministry of National Defence on Sunday said that the Thai military forces on Sunday continued their armed aggression to invade Cambodian sovereign territory by using F-16 fighter aircraft to drop bombs and toxic gas on Cambodian deeper territory, killed 19 civilians and 79 others injured since the fighting erupted on 7 December.

ASEAN consists Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
