ASEAN urge to end violence in Gaza Strip

Phnom Penh (18 Nov, 2012): The 10 states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Sunday called on all parties concerned to end bloody violence in Gaza Strip caused casualties.

Speaking in a press conference on Sunday evening, Cambodia’s Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Kao Kim Hourn said ASEAN appealed all parties concerned must stop the bloody fighting caused civilians killed and wounded.

The 10 nations of ASEAN are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

In recent days, Israel has assaulted on the Gaza Strip, bombarding the Palestinian enclave from both the air and sea.

Citing medical sources, Al Jazeera news reported that three children were killed on Sunday and one of them was an 18-month-old killed in a air raid east of Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.

The New York Times on Sunday quoted Hamas health officials as saying that 45 Palestinians had been killed and 385 wounded since Wednesday’s escalation in the cross-border battle. It say three Israelis have died, and 63 civilians have been injured.
