Cambodia’s King and former King leave the country
Phnom Penh (19 Jan, 2012): Cambodian ex-King Norodom Sihanouk and King Norodom Sihamoni on Thursday have left the nation with a special plane for Beijing, China, for medical treatment and checkup.
Prince Sisowath Thomico, personal assistant to the former King, told reporters that the former King needs to go for treatment on his cancer after a suggestion of his Chinese medial doctors.
The trip has been accompanied by Queen mother Norodom Monineath and no clue for the date of their returning.
Early this month, ex King Norodom Sihanouk released his surprised note to the public requesting that after his death his body needs to be cremated in the area next to the Royal Palace.
According to the note, the former king, 90, seeks his ash to be put in a golden or non-golden casket and kept in the royal palace and such thing much be done for his wife, the queen mother. CN staff
