Cambodian Hunan Rights Committee Files Complaint to OHCHR for Thailand’s Violation
Phnom Penh: (13 November 2025): The Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) has sent a letter to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to bring the urgent attention another grave and serious violation of human rights involving the shooting killed one Cambodian civilians and injured 3 others.
In a letter on Wednesday night addressing to Mr. Volker Turk, the Geneva-based OHCHR President, CHRC chairman Keo Remy said this tragic incident occurred subsequent to the singing of the Joint Declaration by both Cambodian and Thai Prime Ministers witnessed by Malaysian President Anwar Ibrahim and United States President Donald Trump in Kuala Lumpur on 26 October.
The declaration reaffirmed both states’ commitment to peace, stability and protection of civilians along the shared border.
At least one Cambodian villager was dead instantly while 3 others were injured on Wednesday afternoon immediately after Thai military opened fire to the Cambodian villages living inside the Cambodian territory.
The intendent also caused approximately 250 families rapidly rushed out from their home villages while pupil studying at schools ran out to their homes.
Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet on Wednesday also called for an independent investigation into this incident and appeal for the participation of qualified international parties to uncover the truth and those responsible in order to deliver justice for the victims.
