First Durian of Cambodia Reaches Foreign Market

Phnom Penh (17 July 2025): Cambodia’s first durian with standard packed officially exported to the Chinese market on Thursday, marks the history of the country’s durian yield.

In collaboration with a company in China, Cambodia’s HF FRUIT LTD., started exporting the Kingdom’s durian with some 17 tons from Tbong Khmum province to the Chinese market.

Though the start with not large amount, it is the nation’s pride and the company representatives thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, for providing a good environment and seeking to provide opportunities for local investors to export durian abroad.

According to Heng Pisith, Director of the Tbong Khmum Provincial Department of Agriculture, the company plans to invest in durian crops, sending durian to China by purchasing from local farmers who have grown durian in Tbong Khmum province.

The durian must be in proper size and good type with quality based on the needs durian consumer market and it is proud for the first time that Cambodia has foreign market for its durian crops, Heng Pisith said adding that Cambodia has 5,289 hectares of durian cultivation area, of which 3,403 hectares are harvested, yielding approximately 36,656 tons per year.
