Cambodian Senate President Sends Strong Message on His Soldier’s Killing by Thai Military 

Phnom Penh (29 May 2025): Cambodia’s Senate President and Former Prime Minister Hun Sen on Thursday said that weapons and troops sending to the border were not used to attack Thailand or wage war, but just in case of invasion and Cambodia uses its right to protect its territorial integrity and national sovereignty.

Hun Sen’s message was made after his Cambodian solider was killed on yesterday during a brief clash between Cambodian and Thai troops along the border area of Mome Bei in Preah Vihear Province where his said “The place where the shooting took place is where I visited in 2009. Why is it in other’s land?”

Hun Sen also said that if the Thai army want to attack Angkor Wat as Sit Limthongkul [a Thai military commander] mentioned, he would allow them to enter in order to show the United Nations that it is an invasion and that Cambodia would its army to destroy the Thai army.

In his strong message, Hun Sen said Cambodia does not use planes, but it has a sky net to shoot down any plane as it now has good air defenders.

However, the Senate President said Cambodia wants its borders with all neighboring countries – Laos, Thailand and Vietnam – to be the borders of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

while paying tribute to all the troops at the front lines, he also called on his people to remain calm and trust in the resolution between the two governments, and paying attention on fake news that pushes for war between the two nations. (Chhay Sophal)
