World Journalists Gather to Discuss World Peace

Seoul (3 April 2017): Some 100 journalists from 60 countries around the globe, including Cambodia, met here today in Seoul, South Korea, to talk about their role in promoting the world peace while North Korea is a danger nation for nuclear weapons.
Speaking in his welcoming remarks at the conference with the theme “The Role of Media for World Peace” Jung Kyu Sung, President of Journalists Association of Korea, said though journalists have different skin colours and benefits from various corners of the world, they have their clear have something common.
“As journalists, we strive to deliver the truth and promote freedom and peace with the cool head a warm heart,” he said.
The 5-day conference have kicked off today to let journalists from Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America, America, North America, Africa to share their opinions with depth discussion on the theme.
The discussion also sharply focused on North Korea’s nuclear threat in both the region and the world.
“The Republic of Korea is the World’s only remaining divided country and still in a state of armistices. Therefore, I think it is very meaningful that we hold the conference here on the theme….and engage in serious discussions,” said Song Sookeun, South Korea’ 1st Vice Minister of Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism, at the conference.
He said North Korea has carried out nuclear tests and launched dozens of missiles, heightening tensions in the region and threatening peace on the Korean Peninsular.
Song Sookeun also expected that the conference would also offers insights into measures and tackle the crisis and build “a durable peace on the Korean Peninsular”.
With several key speakers from media sector and Korean government, the conference has conducted in coinciding with the celebration of the 53rd anniversary of founding of Journalists Association of Korea. It has several with few trips to different cities through South Korea.
