Foreign Tourists Bring More Income for Cambodia in 2012

Cambodian government spokesman Khieu Kanharith said on Friday that foreign tourists have helped increase Cambodian incomes. Posting on his facebook, Khieu Kanharith who is also Information Minister quoted a statistic of the Tourism Ministry as saying that up to 2, 881, 862 foreign tourists visited Cambodia in 2011 generating US$1, 900 millions.
He said that in the first five months of 2012, the tourism sector increases 26% with the prospect of more 3.3 million tourists for the year of 2012.
“The Ministry of Tourism also plans a need of more 800,000 people to serve the tourist sector in 2020. Now we have only 350,000 people only,” he wrote. (Heng Neang/Cambodia News)
