Cambodian wife kills spouse after eating dog

Phnom Penh (21 April 2014): A women killed her husband accidentally after the two and their neighbours had eaten dog meat at the weekend, a local police officer said Monday.

A woman in northwestern Oddar Meanchey province, near the Thai border, on Saturday night used a stick to hit her husband’s head from behind during an argument after eating dog meat.

The police officer said that before the incident, the family had killed a dog and cooked for a party and they invited neighbours and friends for eating.

After the party, all left and the couple started arguing, said the officer, adding that the wife was arrested Sunday. He quoted the woman as saying she had no any intention to kill her husband but when the drunken husband started attacking, she took a stick and hit him to warn that he had not to abuse her.
