Filipino and Nigerian imprisoned for nearly 30 years in Cambodia
Phnom Penh (21 Dec, 2011): The Cambodian municipal court has tried a female Filipino Auxillo Math Theresa and a Nigerian man Okeke ugo chu kwu Emmanurl upu to 27 years in prison each for involving with border-crossing drug smuggling.
The court in the late afternoon on Tuesday also fined the 26-year-old Filipino and the Nigerian, 39, up to 70 million riels (about US$17,500).
Two Cambodians – one woman, 37, and a man, 25 – have been also jailed for 25 years with 70 million riels in fine for conspiring. The four, however, denied they were dealing with the smuggling and looking forward to the appeal court. CN staff
