Phnom Penh (2 Jan, 2014): Cambodian armed forces have been seen in military uniform with South Korean flag on Thursday dispersed hundreds of garment protesters in Phnom Penh.
At least 10 garment workers were wounded and detained by the armed forces after violence broke out between the two sides at noon. Through video clips, the armed forces used batons to hit the workers’ heads while the workers were throwing rocked and bottles of drinking water to the forces.
The workers started protesting early in the morning to demand their wage increase from US$80 to US$ US $160 per month.
Observers said it is completely strange for a country’s military forces wearing military uniform with a foreign flag to crackdown their own national.
