Phnom Penh (31 July, 2013): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Wednesday afternoon appeared in public for the first time since his father’s funeral three weeks ago.

His appearance in the construction site of new sky way in Phnom Penh capital clarifies the rumour spread out yesterday saying that he has been abroad and resigned from the premiership. His Cambodian People’s Party won 68 parliamentary seats from the Sunday national election also denied the rumour early this morning.

Big traffic jam surprised the travelers as many streets to the main boulevard #271 have been blocked with lots of police and military police staying on guards. Some people felt scary if there has been a protest made by the opposition Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) that won 55 parliamentary seats for the election.

Speaking to reporters at the site, Hun Sen said his CPP has established a committee to negotiate with CNRP for the structure of National Assembly leadership.

Hun Sen also said that the election winner and loser is not important but never let the national unity break apart.

Yesterday, CNRP and its leader Sam Rainsy rejected the election results saying that the poll has had a lot of irregularities and urged for a proper investigation.

Echoing CNRP, the Washington also urged Cambodia to conduct an investigation into allegation of irregularities.

In his first reaction on Wednesday, Hun Sen said that he and his CPP would welcome the international community and others to investigate into the allegation. By Sovann Vathey/Cambodia News
